Calculating the expected failure rate of complex equipment subject to hazardous repair
نویسنده
چکیده
In hazardous repair of a repairable system, there is a strong probability of further failure during a period immediately following the repair. To model failures of such systems under failure-based maintenance, a class of point process models is proposed in which the failure intensity is a function only of equipment age and of time since most recent repair. Cost modelling requires the computation of the expected number of failures by age t as a function of equipment age. This expected number is shown to satisfy a Volterra (integral) equation of the second kind that generalises the renewal equation. A solution algorithm is given. A simple (four-parameter) model from this class is introduced, and the methodology is exempli"ed using a database of failures of non-maintained medical equipment. ( 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. N-Policy for M/G/1 Machine Repair Model with Mixed Standby Components, Degraded Failure and Bernoulli Feedback
In this paper, we study N-policy for a finite population Bernoulli feedback queueing model for machine repair problem with degraded failure. The running times of the machines between breakdowns have an exponential distribution. The repair times of the machines are independent and identically distributed random variables. If at any time a machine fails, it is sent to the repairman for repairing,...

Generally, the failure rate and the repair time of system components are constant parameters in reliability assessment of electric distribution systems. A failure of component is resulted from failing in the operation or overloading. In addition, there exist cases where, the repair times of components are small and tolerable from customer point of view. Thus, tolerable repair times may be overl...

This paper studies an M/G/1 repairable queueing system with multiple vacations and N-policy, in which the service station is subject to occasional random breakdowns. When the service station breaks down, it is repaired by a repair facility. Moreover, the repair facility may fail during the repair period of the service station. The failed repair facility resumes repair after completion of its re...

This paper deals with multi-component machine repair model having provision of warm standby units and repair facility consisting of two heterogeneous servers (primary and secondary) to provide repair to the failed units. The failure of operating and standby units may occur individually or due to some common cause. The primary server may fail partially following full failure whereas secondary se...
